Assist UK is excited to offer several new, volunteer opportunities working at our National Headquarters in Manchester. You will be a part of the UK’s network of independent living centres helping to provide ‘freedom of choice’ and maintain independence for disabled and older people. All volunteers will be given training, coaching and support to improve your skills, which will also be transferrable into other areas of your life.

The opportunities are:

Helpline Volunteers - a new team of 12 disabled or older volunteers to help support our telephone helpline giving information and advice to disabled people, carers and their families. Accredited training will be provided in how to research and use information, advice, recording, reporting and communication skills. After the initial training we are looking for a half day a week commitment.

The training will take place over 3 days: Wednesday 6th March, Wednesday 27th March and Wednesday April 10th. Lunch will be provided on all three days. Training will be from about 10am until 4:30pm.

We are particularly keen to involve disabled and older people, carers, family members or former healthcare professionals. These opportunities are part of our 'Wider and Wiser Well-being' project, funded by the Big Lottery.
